Conradie Park Traffic and
Non-Motorised Transport Upgrades

With a development as big as Conradie Park, there’s many things to consider. We are very mindful of our surrounding areas, the people who already live there, future residents and how this would affect the traffic flow. During 2020, we took great strides to make the initial infrastructure upgrades and they are now complete and fully operational.

Phase 1 Upgrades

These traffic updates were initiated to ensure that all the commuters coming into and leaving the area on a daily basis travel with convenience and ease. Our initial upgrades included:
  • 6 signalised intersections
  • The widening of Forest Drive from a 2 lane road to a 5 lane road
  • A new 5 metre wide non-motorised transport (NMT) route for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • 2 new NMT bridges over the roadway and railway at Old Mutual, which connects the site directly to Mutual station
  • There is also an additional NMT bridge that was constructed over Elsieskraal Canal connecting the site to the great industrial area of Epping.

Please note: All NMT pathways that link to Conradie Park will be safe, well-lit and security monitored.

Phase 2 Upgrades

As part of the park’s Phase 2 upgrades, the main Forest Drive extension road passing Conradie Park will be further upgraded. This upgrade will include additional road widening and the construction of a new elevated T-bridge that leads directly onto Voortrekker Road, with a new signalised intersection not far from the current N7 intersection. The new elevated T-bridge significantly improves Conradie Parks’s connectivity to the surrounding areas, and has the capacity to accommodate an additional 2000 vehicles per hour. The new road upgrade connects to Voortrekker in front of the current Wingfield site. The long-term City of Cape Town transport masterplan is to continue this road upgrade through Wingfield and connect onto the N1 by Century City, further improving the overall connectivity and travel time to and from Conradie Park.

Move With Convenience

The aim of the phase 1 and 2 traffic and NMT updates is to ensure the convenience of our future residents, as well as the people who live in and regularly use the surrounding areas. These upgrades intend to help alleviate the increase in traffic, both by vehicles and pedestrians, that will be coming as the development reaches completion and our buyers move in.
